Policies & Pricing

  • Finding the right therapist for your needs is a difficult and important process. To help you decide whether we might be a good fit, I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation. If we do not decide to work together, I can provide you with referrals for other therapists. If we do decide to work together, I will regularly encourage feedback and discussion of your experiences in therapy.

  • Confidentiality refers to the ethical obligation of therapists to keep the information shared by clients during therapy sessions private and secure. Confidentiality creates a foundation of trust and privacy, promoting an open and safe therapeutic environment. I will discuss confidentiality, and its limits, in more detail with you as part of our first meeting.

  • Therapy sessions are typically 50 minutes and scheduled on a weekly basis. Some prefer more time each week, especially in family and couples work; I also offer 80 minute sessions when needed. In order to best guarantee my availability, I prefer to identify a consistent time for us to meet at the start of our work together.

  • My current rate for individuals is $160 per 50-minute session. For couples and families, my rate is $185 per 50-minute session. My rates for 80-minute sessions are $230 for individuals and $250 for couples and families.

  • I currently accept insurance for individual clients with Aetna, Cigna, Oxford, United, and Oscar through Headway. Regardless of your insurance carrier, if you have an HSA or FSA, you may be able to use these funds to pay for therapy sessions; I also can provide you with a superbill, and you can request reimbursement from your insurance provider. I encourage you to find out what your insurance plan offers before our initial meeting, and to discuss any hopes of using either in-network or out-of-network coverage with me before our first session.

  • I offer a limited number of reduced fee spots for individuals, couples, and families who do not have insurance and are unable to afford the full cost of therapy. For individuals, my reduced fee is $65 per 50-minute session. For couples and families, my reduced fee is $80 per 50-minute session.

  • I currently offer in-person services in Westlake and the Northwest Hills neighborhoods of Austin, Texas, as part of Austin Family Counseling. The Westlake office is located off of Bee Caves Rd., near 360. The Northwest Hills office is located off of Spicewood Springs Rd., between MoPac and 360. Virtual appointments are also available upon request.

  • The length of treatment varies case-by-case and can be difficult to predict at the start of treatment. Therapy will successfully end when we feel that you have met your treatment goals and are ready to move-on from the therapeutic relationship. Research indicates that, on average, clients start to report a lasting positive change after 15-20 sessions. Many clients prefer to continue treatment longer, and the research indicates that more significant change and recovery become more likely when the length of treatment is extended.

  • Under Section 2799B-6 of the Public Health Service Act, the “No Surprises Act,” you have a right to receive a “good faith estimate” explaining how much your therapy services will cost. For more information about the Good Faith Estimate, visit cms.gov/nosurprises or call HHS at 1-800-958-3059.
